Indications:
The CO-2 laser is the most powerful skin resurfacing laser available. It remains the “Gold Standard” by which all other lasers are judged. The CO-2 is an “ablative” laser, meaning it does break down the integrity of the skin surface. This laser is typically used to treat all degrees of facial aging, pigmentary changes, and acne scarring. The result is smoother, more blended, less wrinkled facial skin.
Where is the Procedure Done?
If we are treating around the mouth only, this can be done as an office procedure. If the whole face or around the eyes is treated, it requires anesthesia and is done in a surgery center or hospital.
How long does it take?
The treatments rarely take more than 30 minutes.
Anesthesia
If we are treating small areas local anesthesia is sufficient. If we are treating the entire face, general anesthesia will be needed.
Inpatient or Outpatient?
In most cases you can be treated and go home. Some Louisville laser skin resurfacing patients who have a full facial laser treatment prefer an overnight stay.
Recovery
The treated skin will take 7–10 days to heal. The skin will be very pink for a few weeks. Some redness can last as long as 2 to 3 months but make-up can be used to camouflage this from about 2 weeks on.
Follow-Up
Frequent follow-up appointments are needed while the skin is healing. Once the skin is healed office visits are spaced out depending on your progress.
Fees
The fees vary significantly based on the areas treated and whether we have to use and OR or not. An exact fee will be quoted at the end of your consultation.
