Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Dermal Fillers for Men – Dr. Corbett
The big boom area in cosmetic surgery over the last decade has been in non-surgical procedures. This is not due to less surgery; adversely male plastic surgery numbers have experienced a dramatic rise in volume, but simply because non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures offer a rapid recovery as well an economically viable means to enhance and maintain a more youthful and vibrant appearance.
The fact that we can now “maintain” ourselves from a young age has seen a rise in the fitness, nutrition, beauty and anti-aging industries. It is becoming more common for people to have anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers on a regular basis much as we go to the dentist once or twice a year.
The most popular non-surgical facial treatments for men with real results are the injectables: those that plump or “fill” and those that relax muscles and stop wrinkles from forming. Both types of injectables are made from natural products which are absorbed into the body.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 438,513 men had BOTOX or Dysport injections in 2015, making botulinum toxin type A the most popular non-surgical procedure in the country for men.
BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein injected into the wrinkle lines that “relaxes” the muscles and causes the wrinkles to soften or disappear.
Dysport uses a slightly different formulation of botulinum toxin that does the same thing, but it works quicker and is less expensive. Results of Dysport generally last for 3 to 6 months, as with BOTOX, but treatment is repeatable for continued rejuvenation.
Botox and Dysport are now available every day Monday through Friday in our office. Currently our price is $4.50 per unit for Dysport and $13.00 per unit for Botox. (Please note that 1 unit of Botox = Approximately 2.5 – 3.0 units of Dysport).
Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Silk, Lyft, Defyne, Refyne
The Restylane (Medicis) and Juvederm (Allergan) families of fillers are often requested by patients who desire to enhance the volume of their tear troughs, cheeks, nasolabial folds, jaw line, temples and lips. These fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a protein naturally found in your skin and throughout your connective tissue. Treatments are performed in-office and take roughly 30 minutes. Patients maintain their results up to 9 to 12 months, and in some cases longer.
Sculptra counteracts the loss of fat beneath the skin by stimulating collagen growth. Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis layer of the skin to improve the appearance of sunken cheeks, hollow eyes, indentations and wrinkles. Its main component is poly-lactic acid that has been used for 20 years in surgical products such as dissolvable sutures. Results can last up to two years for male patients.
Note, while injectables and dermal fillers are not considered surgical procedures, it is very important that you choose a highly experienced and qualified physician to administer your treatment. Providers who are less familiar with facial rejuvenation techniques could leave you with a “frozen” or overfilled look.
