Dysport and Restylane in the OR

Tag Archives: Dysport

FYI…If you are planning a Louisville cosmetic surgery in the future don’t forget that we can add in a Louisville Dysport or a Louisville Restylane treatment. And, the best part is you will already be asleep so you won’t feel a thing! It only takes a minute and the facilities do not charge you to have this done if you are in the operating room already.

Louisville, KY. Dysport is another form of botulinum toxin used to smooth wrinkles. It is the main rival to Botox in the U.S.

Dysport and Botox work by chemically creating a disconnect between a nerve and a muscle. The analogy I frequently use is that both are much like a child safety cap one would put on a plug.

In an effort to gain more market share Dysport has offered a Love it or Leave it challenge. The offer has now been extended through September. This is a great offer for the patients enabling you to save $150 on your next Louisville Dysport or Louisville Botox treatment.

Lip lines are a common complaint in my Louisville Plastic Surgery office.

Treatment options for lip lines include Louisville Botox, Louisville Dysport, fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, and lasers.

Botox, Dysport and fillers are office procedures that only take a few minutes to have done. Lasers, depending on their power levels, can be done in the office or sometimes in the operating room.

As Dysport hits the market, I have come to realize that the patients don’t understand the dosing differences between this and Botox.

Dysport is dosed 2.5 times as much as botox. In other words, the typical dose of Botox to treat the glabella is 20 units. With Dysport we use 50 units.

Because of this difference, a unit of Dysport is less expensive than a unit of Botox, usually about 40% of the cost when compared unit for unit.

If you are considering Dysport please clarify this point with your injector before a treatment to avoid an unpleasant cost surprise at the check out counter.

Bruising after a Louisville Botox or Louisville Dysport injection is definitely a possility. Now it’s not all that common but it can and does happen.

This is especially when we treat the crow’s feet area. There are always small veins that live at the side of the eye that are right in the way of where we inject. In fact, the face if full of small blood vessels around the eyes and on our foreheads. So, whenever we put the needle in to inject the toxin, it’s possilbe that we hit a blood vessel. The result…a possible bruise.

You can minimize the risk of a bruise by avoiding aspirin or advil type products and with the application of ice packs to the area immediately before and after.

In the end though, if you get a bruise camouflage with make-up and be assured that it will go away.
